Our Story 

What began as a boat ride with great friends quickly grew into something neither of us expected, but both of us hoped for. Vivian and Logan met through Abby and Alex, professional matchmakers (little did they know), who each knew us from different chapters of life. Vivian went to West Virginia University with Abby and Alex, while Logan survived St. Mary’s High School with Alex.

One summer day, they invited the two of us, along with a great group of friends, out for a ride on Alex’s beloved bay boat, Big Nauti, a deadrise whose name alone should’ve warned us that something life-changing was coming.

Our first official date followed at McGarvey’s Saloon in Annapolis, Logan’s all-time favorite restaurant and bar. Oysters (for Logan), drinks, and the kind of conversation that felt both easy and exciting made for a night we both quietly knew was the beginning of something big.

Now, if you ask Logan, he’ll say it was the perfect spot: great food, good drinks, classic Annapolis charm. If you ask Vivian, she’ll tell you the real reason: it’s not just his favorite bar; Logan was absolutely, strategically trying to get himself a plaque on the McGarvey’s wall right next to his father’s. You see, McGarvey’s gives couples a plaque if they get married after meeting or having their first date there. So yes, it’s entirely possible he was playing the long game.

So began our undercover dating era. We thought we were subtle. We thought we were smooth. We thought we were getting away with it. But then one summer afternoon, fate and poor nautical timing intervened. Out on the bay, our boat crossed paths with Abby and Alex’s at precisely the wrong moment. There we were, side by side on the water, looking extremely not “just friends.” The look on their faces said it all. Our cover? Blown. Completely.

What happened next was everything we didn’t know we were waiting for. From that day forward, life together just felt easy, full of laughter, inside jokes, adventures, lots of boating with great friends, and the kind of steady support that makes every dream feel possible.

Somewhere along the way, that support turned into something even bigger. Logan built Simpson Marine Services from the ground up, pouring his passion for boating into a company he’s incredibly proud of. And naturally, Vivian jumped right in, helping him grow it, cheering him on, and becoming an essential part of the adventure (even if she didn’t expect a side career in marketing/bookkeeping, and occasionally even a "technician", or "helper monkey" as Logan calls it).

Now, here we are, six years after that fateful boat ride, ready to celebrate the next chapter. Surrounded by the friends who unknowingly sparked it all, the family who supported us every step of the way, and the love that keeps pushing us forward.

As the bride’s older sister, Samantha has been a steady source of love, laughter, and unwavering support throughout Vivian’s life. Her presence has shaped countless cherished memories, and her journey all the way from Zimbabwe, Africa, to celebrate this moment means more than words can express. Samantha is also the devoted mother of Rowen and Aden, two of our sweet (and wild, watch out!) ring bearers. Vivian could not imagine this day without Samantha by her side.

As Vivian's youngest sister, Monica has always brought humor, bold opinions, and just the right amount of mischief into Vivian’s life. The two even survived college together at WVU. From college memories to family moments, she’s always kept things lively (and literal, if you know you know). Vivian is so excited to have her little sister by her side, guaranteed to bring laughter (and maybe a few Mountaineer-level antics) to the big day.

Kaylee is Vivian’s best friend and longtime partner in all things fun, heartfelt, and chaotic. The two met at WVU, where they lived right across from each other at Lincoln Hall, and quickly became inseparable. Surviving WVU (a miracle itself), celebrated big wins, and collected a lifetime’s worth of stories along the way. Kaylee has been a constant source of love, support, and lots, and lots, and lots  (I could go on) of laughter. Having stood by Vivian through every chapter over the past decade, she’s now proudly standing by her side for one of the biggest moments of all.

Vivian met Abby at WVU, where she became a cherished friend and eventually part of a life-changing duo. Alongside her fiancé, Alex, Abby plays a special role in Vivian and Logan's story as it all began one summer afternoon in 2020 on Alex's deadrise, Big Nauti (R.I.P.). From college memories to countless boat adventures since, Abby has made every chapter since a little brighter, a little wilder, and a lot more memorable. Vivian is so grateful to have Abby by her side for a day that truly wouldn’t have happened without her.

From the moment Stephanie became part of Vivian’s world, a truly special bond began to grow. Bringing humor, fun, and just the right amount of chaos to every family moment. Somewhere between holidays, inside jokes, and debates no one can remember the origin of, the two became inseparable. Vivian is thrilled to have Stephanie by her side on her big day, fully expecting laughter, support, and at least one moment she’ll laugh about for years.

Shelby and Vivian first met as suite-mates during their freshman year at WVU, where their friendship took shape through early college chaos, countless late-night conversations, and more memories than either of them could ever keep track of. From those first days on campus to every milestone that followed, Shelby has been a steady, supportive, and joy-filled part of Vivian’s life. Their friendship, forged in the chaos and excitement of college, has only grown stronger over the years. Vivian is so grateful to have her by her side as they celebrate this incredible day.

As Logan’s sister, Samantha has been a constant source of love, support, and laughter throughout his life. And quickly became someone incredibly special to Vivian as well. She’s also the proud mom of Emma, one of our sweet flower girls. Through family gatherings, shared stories, and all the moments in between, Samantha has played a meaningful role in Vivian and Logan’s journey. Vivian feels truly grateful to have her by her side and couldn’t imagine celebrating this day without her.

Emma brings a burst of sweetness and sunshine to our special day. As our very first niece, she holds a special place in our hearts. With her playful spirit and bright smile, she makes the perfect little flower girl. We’re so excited to have her sprinkling joy and petals down the aisle.

Wren is a little ray of sunshine with a heart full of joy. As our precious niece, she fills the day with an extra layer of love. We can’t wait to see her charm everyone as she walks down the aisle as one of our beautiful flower girls.

Dylan, Logan’s eldest brother has been by his side through every stage of life, sharing laughs, arguments, memories, and lots and lots and lots of phone calls. His loyalty and sense of humor make him the perfect person to stand beside Logan on his big day. Dylan is also the proud father of Carter, one of our adorable ring bearers. Logan couldn’t imagine the day without him.

He has been a steady presence through so many seasons of our lives, the kind of friend who shows up without being asked and makes every moment feel a little lighter. Alex has been a part of this story from the very beginning, literally. He and Logan go all the way back to high school, and later went to WVU with Vivian and his fiancée, Abby, making him the rare friend who fits seamlessly into both sides of our lives. And, of course, he’s the reason fate stepped in at all: Alex and Abby invited the two out on Alex’s deadrise, Big Nauti (R.I.P.) where Vivian and Logan's love story began. We’re endlessly grateful for the role he played in bringing us together and for the years of laughter, loyalty, and unforgettable memories since. Logan is so grateful to have Alex by his side for a day that truly wouldn't have happened without him.

Michael isn’t just family, he’s a constant source of warmth, support, and genuine kindness. He’s been there for so many milestones, always showing up with a steady presence and a big heart. Traveling all the way from Zimbabwe to be here is just one more example of his dedication to the people he loves. He’s also the proud father of Rowen and Aden, a role he embraces with incredible joy and devotion. Logan is deeply grateful to and honored to celebrate this day with Michael by his side.

Kendall isn't just family, he brings a mix of sincerity, humor, and easygoing charm that makes every moment with him better. He and Logan have built their friendship on great conversations, shared laughs, and their must-stop tradition of enjoying crabs at Ocean Pride whenever he’s in town. Logan is deeply grateful to and honored to celebrate this day with Kendall by his side.

Joey wasn’t just Logan’s best friend; he was a brother in every way that mattered. His loyalty, humor, and huge heart shaped so many of the moments and memories that made Logan who he is today. Even though he’s no longer with us, his presence is felt in every laugh, every story, and every piece of this celebration. Honoring him as a groomsman is our way of carrying his spirit with us into this new chapter. He is deeply missed and forever loved.
